Hugh Shurston is the son of Lord Shurston is suspected of Murdering the nun Sister Agatha. By the request of his father, you take Hugh's case. You learn that there was a relationship between the nun and Hugh, but it ended gently enough; mostly due to Hugh's sister's objections and threatening letters. You eventually prove his innocence, but that leaves the case open and no suspect to arrest. Little is heard from him after he's cleared until chapter eight when he tells you he was a member of the Order and provides a cipher solution they used to help solve the final puzzles that lead you to the ones responsible for killing the girls.

Jennifer Shurston is the daughter of Lord Shurston is incredibly close to her older brother; in fact, she is the alibi her brother needs, at least she would've been if she hadn't gone missing. At the request, once again of Lord Shurston, you take the case and track down his missing daughter, only to find that she has become another victim of the ones responsible for the death of Sister Agatha. It does prove Hugh's innocence once and for all, but at a cost. This death proves a more sinister plot is at hand.

Lord Shurston is who you meet at the start of chapter one you learn his son is accused of murdering a nun. He asks for your help and is light-hearted of your assistance. Eventually you prove his son is innocent, but find out his daughter has disappeared. This man knows more than he's letting on and is very nervous about the situation. When she turns up dead, killed in a ritual sacrifice, he has a complete breakdown; jumping out a window and running naked into the garden. It's such an odd situation that it compels his bed-stricken wife to rise. He is admitted to an asylum and you find yourself unable to talk to him. You discover the truth behind his madness, but unintentionally cause his death by getting so close.

Lady Shurston is at first blush, a very rude lady. She refuses to talk to you, so you have to break into her home and force the interview to get the information you need; which in and of itself is very difficult. She seems indifferent to her son's arrest and her daughter's disappearance, all she appears to care about is her family's behavior. She denies her daughter running away often as a child and she gets enraged if you even hint at her children's relationship as anything but love of a sibling.
